PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Establishes the site-based C-CREO program and oversees its implementation. Communicates C-CREO’s vision and goals.
  • Orients students, parents, school faculty and staff to GEAR UP and raise awareness of the benefits of postsecondary education in the communities at large.
  • Serves as a college planning resource for parents, teachers, educators, and counselors.
  • Develops and implements comprehensive pre-college programs for middle and high school students that include career exploration, academic planning and preparation, financial planning and college application assistance.
  • Works with C-CREO staff to provide summer enrichment activities.
  • Develops and implements parent workshops and special events that encourage and foster parental involvement.
  • Conducts and supervises college visits and arranges for virtual tours.
  • Manages data collection for project events including student and parent participation.
  • Develops annual work plan.
  • Serves as a mentor and positive role model for the C-CREO students and encourages student’s participation in project activities.
  • Completes other duties as assigned or required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in Education or related field (masters degree preferred); AND two (2) years counseling, teaching or experience working with youth; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

 

Required Knowledge of:

  • Principles and practices of effective project management, leadership, supervision, and training.
  • Student academic motivation strategies.
  • Community resources and student cohort needs.
  • Community College & University academic standards and systems.
  • District, School Board, and Department policies and procedures.  

  

Required Skills in:

  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with coworkers and other individuals in contact during the course of work; communicating clearly and concisely.
  • Time management, facilitation, organization, written and oral communication skills.
  • Operating a personal computer utilizing standard software such as Microsoft Office and some specialized software; functioning standard office equipment.
  • Developing and implementing individualized academic achievement plans.
  • Practicing methods involved in providing quality customer service.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.

 

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a standard office environment.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends.
  • Ability to travel and represent the District.
