SUMMARY: Under general supervision, provides a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning atmosphere that supports and embraces diversity. Promotes and supports the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of each student.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Provides instruction to assigned students through the implementation of a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
  • Supervises children throughout the day including playgrounds, classrooms, centers, meal times, and special events.
  • Sets tables with daily activities according to lesson plans and facilitates activity rotation. Cleans and disinfects tables throughout the day.
  • Supervises Paraprofessional on a daily basis.
  • Ensures that program goals and District and program policies and procedures are followed.
  • Maintains communication between staff, parents, Teachers, and Administration.
  • Maintains organization and storage of classroom materials and assists students with clean up.
  • Assists with routine assessments of children’s growth in all developmental areas.
  • Prepares student files in emergency folders and inputs data.
  • Arranges rooms and furniture to assigned locations. Sets up wall décor, bulletin boards and prepares student attendance sheets.
  • Completes other duties as assigned or required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education and Experience:

  • Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education, or related field; AND two (2) year of experience working with preschool aged children; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

 

Required License and Certification:

  • Pediatric First Aid and CPR Certification.
  • Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.

 

Required Knowledge of:

  • Early stages of childhood development.
  • Methods of classroom management.
  • Principles, practices, and methods of teaching.
  • District, School Board, and Department policies and procedures.

 

Required Skills in:

  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with coworkers and other individuals in contact during the course of work; communicating clearly and concisely.
  • Operating a personal computer utilizing standard software such as Microsoft Office and some specialized software; functioning standard office equipment.
  • Managing classroom activities. Supervising and instructing students.
  • Developing and implementing lesson plans.
  • Practicing methods involved in providing quality customer service.

 

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a standard classroom environment.
  • Required to assist young children in daily living activities including toileting, eating indoor and outdoor play from the floor and from low surfaces.
