SUMMARY: Under general supervision working collaboratively to develop teacher and student behaviors that promote student academic success; and provides support for teacher in the area of classroom management in order in increase teacher’s instructional effectiveness.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

  • Assist teachers to employ a systematic approach to classroom management.
  • Model lessons, strategies or provides options for dealing with student behavior.
  • Assist teachers to develop, recommend and provide alternative discipline strategies in conjunction with staff, parents and students.
  • Assist teachers in counseling and mentoring at-risk students regarding academic achievement and attendance.
  • Maintain progress files for at-risk students, collaborate with counselors and teachers regarding each student’s discipline and educational needs and makes recommendations for changes as needed.
  • Works directly with at-risk students as needed. Makes home visits to investigate cause for student’s behavior problems and truancy issues.
  • Monitors student discipline data on a monthly basis to identify areas of need.
  • Serve as liaison with social-service, youth-service and community-based agencies to develop prevention or intervention strategies.
  • Coordinate with businesses for the purpose of receiving incentives for students.
  • Refer families/students to appropriate social agencies, community services or school resources.
  • Plans, develops, and implements innovative support programs and establishes new program components to increase teacher effectiveness and overall student achievement.
  • Analyze data related to student performance, and evaluates program effectiveness and makes recommendations for program changes as a result of this analysis.
  • Coordinate, organize, and facilitate meetings with social service agencies and others as needed.
  • Completes other duties as assigned or required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education or closely related field; AND five (5) years of teaching experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

 

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Arizona Teaching Certificate.
  • Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card

 

 

 

 

 

Required Knowledge of:

  • Principles and practices of effective project management, leadership, supervision, and training.
  • SIOP instructional practices and methods of classroom teaching and management.
  • Performance based learning and assessment.
  • Adult/child and adult/adult learning theories.

 

Required Skills in:

  • Classroom Management.
  • Oral and written communication in both English and Spanish.
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with staff, students and parents, communicating clearly and concisely.
  • Committee facilitation.
  • Operating a personal computer utilizing standard software such as Microsoft Office and some specialized software; functioning standard office equipment.
  • Understanding lesson planning using the District lesson plan template.
  • Analyzing and interpreting testing programs and data.
  • Practicing methods involved in providing quality customer service.

 

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a standard office environment.
