PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Monitors students during in school suspension.  Provides assignments to students submitted by classroom teachers.
  • Conducts attendance calls and sends daily attendance reports to main office.
  • Grades notes and provides feedback to students.
  • Sets up classroom and prepares support materials.  Assists with preparing physical environment that meet the needs of students.
  • Maintains student files.  Creates student progress reports and monitors student progress.
  • Implements academic and behavior intervention strategies to motivate students in their progress.
  • Monitors and ensures functionality of digital products, works with vendors and tech support when needed.
  • Works with other school staff to ensure appropriate educational plans for students.
  • Works with parents/guardians to support student success.
  • Assists with all online testing, including preparation and completion.
  • Fosters a safe and mutually respectful environment.
  • Completes other duties as assigned or required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; AND Associate degree, 60 units of post-secondary coursework or passing score on a paraprofessional assessment; AND experience working with children; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

 

Required Knowledge of:

  • Stages of childhood development.
  • Principles, practices, and methods of teaching.
  • District, School Board, and Department policies and procedures.
  • Methods of classroom management. Supervising and instructing students.

 

Required Skills in:

  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with coworkers and other individuals in contact during the course of work; communicating clearly and concisely.
  • Operating a personal computer utilizing standard software such as Microsoft Office and some specialized software; functioning standard office equipment.
  • Managing classroom activities. Supervising and instructing students.
  • Practicing methods involved in providing quality customer service.

 

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

  • Work is performed in a standard classroom environment.
  • Required to assist students of various ages.
