SUMMARY: Under close supervision, works with staff to provide a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning atmosphere that supports the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of each student.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Supervises children throughout the day including playground, classrooms, centers, mealtimes, and specials.
• Maintains organization of classroom materials, storage, and in classrooms as needed.
• Assists with packing materials at the end of the school year.
• Prepares classrooms for the start of the new school year.
• Assists Lead Preschool Paraprofessional with center time activities and classroom management.
• Prepares materials for art projects and activities.
• Cleans and disinfects tables, toys, and playground.
• Assists children with using the restroom and washing their hands as needed.
• Facilitates various projects and activities. Rotates lesson materials and themes.
• Participates in the assessment process during center time activities. Takes photos of student participating in activities or playground specials for observation assessment.
• Attends various meetings and training sessions.
• Completes other duties as assigned or required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent; AND Associate Degree OR minimum of sixty (60) credits post-secondary education OR passing score on a paraprofessional test; AND one (1) year of experience working with preschool aged children; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Required Licenses and Certifications:

• CPR/First Aid Certification.
• Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Required Knowledge of:

• Early stages of childhood development.
• Methods of classroom management.
• District, School Board, and Department policies and procedures.

Required Skills in:

• Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with coworkers and other individuals in contact during the course of work; communicating clearly and concisely.
• Implementing lesson plans.
• Managing classroom activities.
• Practicing methods involved in providing quality customer service.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:

• Work is performed in a standard classroom environment.
• Required to assist young children in daily living activities including toileting, eating indoor and outdoor play from the floor and from low surfaces.
