GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
To provide health related assistance to students; to assist in creating a climate of health and well-being; to assure a caring and understanding environment for students.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
OFFICE INTERACTION
- Assists in preparation of a physical environment that meets the needs of students;
- Assists with data entry of student health records/reasons for absence/special reports;
- Performs typing and filing as required;
- Assists with telephone coverage;
- Assists with attendance activities, including verification of and reason for absence;
- Maintains supply inventory;
- Assists with completion of state and county reports;
- Assists with immunization records and deficiency notifications;
- Maintains emergency release records; and
- Performs other related tasks, as assigned.
STUDENT INTERACTION
- Administers basic first aid to students;
- Performs visual, auditory, special education screenings;
- Supervises students as assigned, during non-instructional activities;
- Assists with health education activities;
- Transports children as required;
- Administers medication as per District policy and procedure; and
- Performs other related tasks as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
ACCEPTABLE EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent;
- Post high school education or training desirable;
- CPR and first aid certification or CNA certification required;
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred;
- Ability to communicate and work well with children; and
- One year experience.
PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs;
- May be required to assist students with restricted mobility; and
- May require occasional long periods of sitting, viewing computer screen, and typing.
